A moment of tension before the trigger is squeezed.

The company sniper, Corporal Leyna Meyer prepares to fire, while Master Sargeant Rikoko Aoshima takes a moment out of charachter by lending herself as a spotter. The scene depicted is occuring in a low-intensity area of the front line- their position is less than ideal for sniping.

I've never really drawn Leyna into anything formal too much yet, I've got her sketch and design figured out pretty well, and her charachter is pretty solid. She's a bit of a sadist, and rumor among the Crossbolters is her left eye is glass... and she removed it herself.

Umm... oww.....

Very cool mate, nice mood. I like how you've got Riko's hand on her shoulder, sort of like "Ok, steady, don't rush this..."

Splitter camo! I love snipers. Nice picture :) I like the setup.

Thank you! I did try and put some thought into the deliberateness of the pose and such.

As for the eye thing, I read about a sniper once (can't remember where) who cut out one of his eyes because he was so frustrated about going crosseyed when he stared into his scope for too long. I thought it certainly added some charachter and sort of a defining feature, kind of like Baiken, the GG Samurai gal with only one eye and one arm. XD

That it happened in real life doesn't make the eye out thing any less freakish you realize don't you? =P Though it does make a pretty cool character trait...
...makes you wonder: were they able to use a regular weapon after that though? What with the sudden lack of depth perception and all :P

Well, at the range I shoot with one eye closed since I already have kind of a weird setup- I'm left eye dominant, but I'm right handed, so handguns are fine, but when I use rifles I have a rather awkward setup. But uh, anyways, as long as you adjusted for gravity over distances, there wouldn't be too much trouble.

Using a laser rangefinder and hot-loading ammo to give it a flatter trajectory doesn't hurt, either.
