Today we had to put my dog to sleep.

He was a really good friend and a great pet. Hobbes will be sorely missed.

I feel awful because he didn't go to sleep after he got the first sedative, he just kept looking at my dad and I. He was always a pretty sharp dog, and he was nervous and knew something was up. My dad cried for a few minutes, then put his facade of cold composure back on.

I've just felt drained and terrible all day. KT was a great boss (once again) and traded my shifts around so I could take today off.

I mean, I know it was what had to happen. He was old, deaf, arthritic and had a tumor on his crotch the size of a grapefruit that made it really hard to for him to go to the bathroom or sit down. Since I moved out he'd been alone all day and was gnawing on his forepaws until they bled.

Doesn't stop me from missing him, though.

Life will go on, of course, but slowly.

It's been a rough day and I just needed to get that out of my system.
